Catching Up

Lots of shoveling .. beautiful snow the weekend of the 1st ...Today (the 14th) was the first day above freezing this year ...

As usual, when you get back to work after the holidays, a lot of stuff happens ... Throw in 18" of snow and then a weekend trip to Boston and a person can get really behind in his blogging ... I'll write more on the Boston trip as I caught a great Egyptian show there and saw some pretty interesting woodworking ... I haven't been to a museum since I went to the Calder show at the Guggenheim last January and I slightly forgot what a powerful and inspiring place a good one can be ... We're in the sticks up here ...

So ... What have we been up to? .. Here are some pictures ... Click to enlarge them ...

Will has wrapped up construction on the Curly Maple Jewelry Cabinet ... He's still got to make the stool before he starts the finishing next week ..

The drawers are lined with nice dark green velvet and there will be some dividers in them later

We put the varnish on the Recycled Oak Table but didn't assemble it because it won't be delivered right away

Trevor completed a client designed, Shaker style bureau that we'll deliver this weekend

We sold the cherry and steel table and had to work hard to get a decent picture of it ... It was a tough to get the photograph so that you can see the beauty of the cherry boards ....

We've finished the two tv cabinets for the This Old House Project ...

the big tv cabinet in the finishing process; it will be reassembled tomorrow...

Friday ... All together now ..enlarge this one to see the details.. cherry, curly maple, and walnut

We also fixed an old tilt top table

simple, but elegant with the center inlay...

And we're working with a potential client on designs for a six foot by six foot two slab claro walnut dining table ... We're getting closer but have not come to an agreement yet ...

We got to visit and reoil some old friends that we made in 1989 ... This table has one of my first uses of abalone in the inlays ... more pictures on the website at the link above ...

Same clients's stairway .. also from 1989 ... still looks great !

We also have been working finalizing designs with clients for a 10' expanding mahogany table like this one on my website ... The new commission will be all in mahogany; no black or curly maple details.

And we're doing design work for a king size bed with abalone ducks and cattails ...
I need a weekend off ! ....
